19 of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player secured his first title for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a difficult season, winning just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in especial - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-term coach Cervara.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.

It is his initial championship following the Rome competition and initial on a hard court after March of that year.

The win also means he has won twenty-one victories at 21 various competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is really nice," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six finals, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

His retrieving strategy and frequent reactions on the tennis court had caused commentators to question if his ability to perform at the top level was finished.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the final five games to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first ATP Tour victory, took control to push for a final set.

He rescued 4 initial chances in a competitive third set before the Russian broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner secured the title with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
